Diseño y validación de un instrumento para analizar 'las otras imágenes' en los libros de texto de Educación Física

Esta investigación tiene como objeto elaborar un instrumento que permita el análisis de las imágenes, de los libros de texto de Educación Física (en adelante EF), en las cuales no aparece la figura humana o aparece sin realizar actividad física. El instrumento se dividió en cuatro dimensiones: a) características técnicas de la imagen, b) otras imágenes relacionadas con el personaje, c) otras imágenes relacionadas con la actividad física y d) otras imágenes. Posteriormente se procedió a redactar las categorías y subcategorías de cada dimensión. The aim of the present study is to determine the treatment given to the pictures of the body and physical activity in Physical Education’s textbooks for Primary School. The sample consists of 997 images of nine textbooks published by five publishers. A descriptive analysis was performed on the variables gender, age, race, and somatotype that refer to the body, and type, scope, space, and level of practice referred to physical activity. Results show that stereotypes still remain regarding the body and physical activity, emphasizing the male, white, thin and youth body that practices sports and motor skills. ProstateAnalyzer: web-based medical application for the management of prostate cancer using multiparametric MR imaging

Objectives: In this paper, we present ProstateAnalyzer, a new web-based medical tool for prostate cancer diagnosis. ProstateAnalyzer allows the visualization and analysis of magnetic resonance images (MRI) in a single framework. Methods: ProstateAnalyzer recovers the data from a PACS server and displays all the associated MRI images in the same framework, usually consisting of 3D T2-weighted imaging for anatomy, dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI for perfusion, diffusion-weighted imaging in the form of an apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) map and MR Spectroscopy. Prostate segmentation is a challenging task, and the challenges significantly differ from one imaging modality to another. Low contrast, speckle, micro-calcifications and imaging artifacts like shadow poses serious challenges to accurate prostate segmentation in transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) images. However in magnetic resonance (MR) images, superior soft tissue contrast highlights large variability in shape, size and texture information inside the prostate. Abstract: Inter patient shape, size and intensity variations of the prostate in transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) images challenge automatic segmentation of the prostate. In this paper we propose a variational model driven by Mumford-Shah (MS) functional for segmenting the prostate. Parametric representation of the implicit curve is derived from principal component analysis (PCA) of the signed distance representation of the labeled training data to impose shape prior.
